If it isn’t a KT controller, then it should be fairly easy to swap out the existing controller for an unrestricted KT controller with the same spec (48v 20/22A) you will also need to purchase a corresponding KT-LCD3 display. The FM motor is in a smaller/fatter case. You will be fine with Surly forks. They also do a colour version of the display called the KT-LCD8.
